Anakin Skywalker - Attack of the Clones
Limited Edition Lightsaber

Released : 2004
Edition Size : 1,500
Display Case : Included
Retail Price : $349.00

Master Replicas released this replica of Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber, as seen in Episode II: Attack of the Clones, in mid-2004. Numbered SW-121, this replica was the second (behind the Mace Windu AOTC LE) to come with the new style display case and new black plastic plaque stand. The new display case, which omits the black 'lip' surrounding the acrylic cover, allows for a 25% larger viewable area while the black plaque stand adds an another level of elegance to the overall quality of the display.

Like it's predecessors, this lightsaber came with the black presentation box with blue foam lining, a Certificate of Authenticity with prop story, a numbered Limited Edition metal plaque bearing the Master Replicas and Lucasfilm logos, an acrylic display case and the standard brown shipping boxes. This lightsaber constituted one of MR's smaller runs, topping off at only 1500 pieces worldwide.

The saber surprised collectors in many respects. First, very few fans realized just how small this hilt actually is. At just over 10 inches long and 1.125 inches in diameter, it is the smallest full-size replica, save only those of Yoda and Sidious. Even more shocking than the small size of the Anakin AOTC was it's tremendous weight. For such a small lightsaber, one would think that it would weigh relatively little. Oh no, not this bad boy! A friend of mine said jokingly, "I nearly gave myself a hernia the first time I picked it up!"

Moving away from the physical dimensions of the prop, the next surprise was shiny chrome surface. When MR takes production pictures for their website, they use a special technique in order to eliminate glare, shadows, etc. However, fans have found that this technique sometimes distorts the finish on the products. The Anakin AOTC is a great example of that phenomenon - the saber that looked dull and borderline-boring on in the webshots turned out to be stunning in real life! Additionally, this saber holds two LEDs on the left-hand side - one red and one green - adding a bit of color to the otherwise metallic design scheme.

Lastly, and perhaps most impressively, are the striking similarities that exist between the Anakin AOTC and the Vader ANH. After seeing the Anakin AOTC up close, it is readily apparent that the design was based on an MPP flash, but scaled down and reworked to give it a more youthful look and feel of Anakin as a Padawan in the prequel era - before the taint of the Dark Side. Before the Fall.
