Here’s the speculation thread for a 6” Obi-Wan Kenobi figure, clearly a given for the The Black Series toyline.

Would you purchase Obi-Wan Kenobi figure when Hasbro releases him?

Amen brother. For me it’s all about the head sculpt. Hasbro has done a couple good ones (both CW heads) and a bunch of duds (everything else). If they can’t make the head look like Ewan, it’s a pass for me.

Took some of my own screenshots.

It was kind of hard to get decently clear frames, but I can definitely confirm that this figure is called Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi) and is #01 in the OWK sub-line. It also definitely appears that there is an accessory missing to the upper left of the figure. The little hand-held droid from the trailer perhaps?

I guess let's make it official.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Wandering Jedi) is #01 in the Obi-Wan Kenobi sub-line. The press release mentions 3 accessories, so that would be a lightsaber, blaster, & the empty spot in the packaging.

On shelf Spring 2023. MSRP is $24.99. Available for pre-order May 11th at 1pm ET at most major retailers.

Press Release

STAR WARS fans and collectors can imagine scenes from the STAR WARS galaxy with this premium THE BLACK SERIES 6-INCH OBI-WAN KENOBI (WANDERING JEDI) figure, inspired by the character in the STAR WARS: OBI-WAN KENOBI series. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced the corruption of his friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned Sith Lord Darth Vader. It also features the great articulation we have come to expect from Black Series, including the butterfly joints which allow more dynamic posing and articulation.

Fans and collectors can display this fully articulated figure, featuring premium deco and poseable head, arms, and legs, in their collection. This STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES figure also comes with 3 entertainment-inspired accessories.

Ewan nailed my feelings on this figure in the interview. “They scan your whole body…and it still doesn’t look like you!” 🤣
Seriously though, it’s kind of a boring outfit and the head looks like they just reused the crappy ep.2 mullet head. So far the 2 CW figures are the only ones that look anything like him imo.

Yeah thats a definite downgrade on the Obi Wans we've had before. Really needs a wash or two.
The trigger finger looks really stupid as well (I get he has a blaster..maybe just don't include it?)

The way prices are going, I'm hoping I don't fall in to the Pokemon trap that I have with Mando figures. At least the Inquisitors can go with my Sith or Rebels shelf so might be able to resist.

I got a custom painted head preordered thankfully because that’s disappointing attempt. At least the figure should be available sooner instead of next year!

Edit: I guess it is 2023 release…

I’ll definitely need to buy 2 of these. He looks awesome, & the second figure, I think would be a great start for a Kyp Durron Custom as well.

While I think it looks like Ewan, it could easily double as an Obi-Wan (Kamino Battle) head sculpt. With the hair being a separate piece you can bet we'll be getting another Obi-Wan figure with different hairstyle using the same head sculpt at some point.

His nondescript clothing will be great for custom fodder, especially for other random Tatooine residents to fill out dioramas.

Ewan should have put down the Just for Men! He needed some gray in his hair and beard at this point in the timeline!

Hard to say who is responsible for that decision. It could have even been Disney/Show Producers trying to make sure he looks young enough to bring in young NEW fans etc. I'm with you though.

If it was a calculated decision, I suspect the reason was not to remind Star Wars fans of their own mortality.

"Ewan is already 51! Yikes! Gotta make him look younger to reassure our audience."

🧓😆

We already got hobo Luke, do we really want hobo Obi-wan?

Regarding the joints, is it possible Obi-Wan's shirt is soft plastic and the butterfly joints are hidden beneath it? After looking at the photos, it seems like Obi-Wan's bare chest is a separate piece sitting underneath the shirt, rather than connected to it as a part of the same piece of plastic. I'm kind of hoping this is the case, as it would allow for a big range of motion without sacrificing the aesthetic of the figure. I know it's impossible to tell from photos, but is anyone else seeing what I'm describing?

That’s the way the Death Watch Mandalorian is. He has a soft rubbery shirt/armor that completely covers the plastic torso.

But the press release in Etain's post above specifically calls out that it does have butterfly joints.
If that's true, I may pick him up after all then. But like Oofa said, the photos hide the butterfly joints really well.

Looking over the mold again, I wonder how long we'll be waiting for a Crait Luke? Looks like the mold just needs a new head cast and a dye job

Why didn't they have this ready to go when the show starts? They've been planning this show for years. Plenty of time to get it made in time. Another damn 2023 release.

Shipping delays. We have carded shots and factory samples. The figure IS ready to go. I’m betting it’ll be in a few stores shortly. Leia from the same wave was already on shipping cargos recently. They have to say 2023 because they can’t be sure of the shipping timeline, but I’d bet money that these are in-hand before the show hits in 3 weeks.

Hasbro has no problem getting entire waves of Marvel Legends to stores before the films come out. Dr Strange wave has been out for weeks and now Thor 4 wave is out months before the film.

Even if they can't show off some characters to avoid spoilers, its Obi-Wan. We know what he looks like & the show is named after him. Getting a figure of him won't spoil anything.

Same thing with Book of Boba Fett. We should have had Fett from the show out on shelves when the show started.

I think it’s a Lucasfilm problem. They want to keep things top secret. But to what end? What has been truly shocking (in a good way) since the Disney acquisition? Grogu, Luke’s return in Mandalorian. Maybe Ahsoka’s return in Mandalorian, but I think there WERE a lot of leaks about that one.
