New Droid Depot 3.75" figures

Not actual Retro R2 rerelease, a screen accurate mostly-new mold of whatever this droid designation will be.

If the R2-SHW is any indication, they'll easily charge full price or even an exclusive markup for a small 4-piece figure with 5 points of articulation and no extras

Ah, I get it now. Well, considering how infrequently we get droids of any kind in TVC, and the fact that $16.99 is only a couple dollars more than what the Disney parks charge for their single-carded droids, I wouldn't turn my nose up and grouse about any all-new astromech in TVC. In fact, the only reason I refused to buy SHW is because it used one of the worst astromech sculpts in the modern line. My disdain for that mold is on the same level as my disgust for rocket-firing R5-D4. The price definitely wasn't the issue on that one for me.

Finding an R2-SHW with decent quality control was a bigger problem than sculpt or price.

I only ever saw 2 in the wild & left both of them due to wavey dome lines, dribbled eyes or misaligned paint on the mandible hatch. I only made bids on listings with clear photos of the actual figure.

Love the Frankenstein chopper! We got a witch, ghost, vampire and frankenstein (who is basically a zombie) next a werewolf?

Yakface is reporting this year's Halloween droid has been spotted. https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2023/07/24/new-halloween-droidfactory-c1-mnst4-hitting-parks/

The news story indicates these in the parks but I did not see them in Disneyland 7/22, 7/23, or downtown Disney 7/24. Hopefully these will make an appearance on ShopDisney.
I was also at Disneyland and DTD on Saturday on Saturday 7/22. Saw plenty of BB-YOU and some of the bartender R2s. But no sign of this Halloween C1 anywhere.

Start at the 1:10 mark and this is what a potential werewolf version could look like. This segment was a good laugh in college. A werewolf or a creature from the black lagoon would be interesting and fresh. Maybe the invisible man with just a painted dome and feet with a clear body.

Does anyone know if Droid Factory B2EMO is still available at the Disney Parks? I have family going to Florida this week (I'm in the UK) so was hoping they could pick this up.

I think Betoo is long gone. I had a family friend check during their trip to Anaheim two months ago, and he was nowhere to be found.

Or Hasbro gets their act together and starts including more droid characters in TVC. Andor is already slept on and B2 is pretty toyetic, what gives?

I was going to say that in my previous post, but then I realized that we all pretty much know that Hasbro doesn't give a damn about droids anymore. It's a given at this point. It's a sad reality that I've begrudgingly accepted.

In a normal situation you would expect that Chopper will be back out coinciding with the Ahsoka show and B2EMO will be back out coinciding with Andor Season 2, but since we can't expect that sort of thing anymore... I don't know.

I'd be willing to bet my current Droid Factory Chopper that Disney will reissue that figure again in the very near future. My gut tells me it won't be a straight reissue of the single-carded version, but instead he'll be part of a new Droid Factory 4-pack representing the Ahsoka series.

TBH I'm surprised that they have never once reissued Chopper. That said, given their release method of only Holiday and D+ focus I can see how it might slip under the radar.

It does feel as if they only way to get Droids these days is from Disney which is sad because they truly aren't set up the do proper coverage like Hasbro is/was on a level that would address the needs of the collecting community. One 4-pk for or one single for a particular show doesn't go far enough to cover barely anything seen on screen. Now Andor might not have had any noteworthy Droids beyond B2 thus why we only got one from that show, but some shows would require two 4-pks in order to satiate the needs of Droid enthusiasts. Mando S3 for example.

Heck, we even have to rely on Disney for a proper Jabba's Bar Droid! And part of me is totally surprised Hasbro even bothered to do R5 instead of just letting Disney tackle it. So they must have needed cheap "filler" in a wave not to mention not having anything from Mando S3 as viable releases until likely 2025, and this was an attempt to address that because it's the easiest to do.

Frankly, between both Disney and Hasbro we really should have to be begging for Droids like we do. A little coordination and they could manage some really good coverage of these shows.

Twice for the cr@ppie Hasbro version. In the 2 pack & single carded.

Why we didn’t get imperial Chopper as he was painted several times in that disguise I just don’t know.

I got my C1-MNST4. I really thought the staples around the top would be molded on based on the official images. The pictures appeared to have shadowing. Guess I was fooled. I would have like some weathering or muddy paint apps on this one. Especially in light of Disney really rocking the weathering paint on R2-S4M.

The one thing I would love to see with the Disney C-series droid figure is a release with matching legs. They have them, as Chopper has the option. The mismatch for MNST4 makes sense in the narrative but the holiday one (from the Advent calendar) would have looked nice and set it apart if they used the other matching leg.

Wow, those are some great pieces! It’s neat to see them all compiled together like that. 🤩.

This is becoming an exercise in self-torture, since we're still waiting on DF sets to represent BoBF and Mando season 3, but here's some potential candidates from yesterday's two-episode premiere of Ahsoka.

Maybe you should stop watching these shows specifically to spot Droids and take a more relaxed approach without the eagle eye? lol
I'd buy all of these except the red R4.

I am curious just how many Droids will pop up in this show versus how many actually get made, and to know which one's are deserving of that honor. I almost feel like we'll get Droids from Ahsoka before any from Mando S3.

I could definitely see a 4 pack of droids from this show before anything else preceding it. Maybe/hopefully they’ll offer that retro looking droid!

Impossible.

I'm such an astromech fan, that even when I'm not looking for them, I see them anyways. I don't watch every piece of Star Wars media playing a sad game of Where's Waldo: Astromech Edition. I watch the shows normally, but my eyes will instantly zero in on any astromech, no matter how small it is in the shot, heh. I still have a write up I've been sitting on since Andor came about, all about the one and only astromech in the entire series, and how I tracked down its real-world origin. It's a sickness, really. lol

How far in were previous shows before the droids hit?

Mandalorian set had to be post S1 as it had gondola droid thin

There were astromechs very early on in the first season of Mandalorian.

The very first one was the yellow domed R2 in the taxi speeder, which Din turned away.

Second was that very interesting R2/R6 hybrid, which drove the cart on Navarro.

I think he meant, how far into/after the seasons aired were the DF sets revealed or released.
Since the ferry monster droid would've been a spoiler otherwise, he was definitely revealed after chapter 8

Likewise with the probe droid and 4Lom lookalike in Kenobi

For those who were on the fence before, or just want some extras for customs, it would seem shopDisney has permanently placed the latest Droid Factory sets on clearance. If I didn't already have five of that S4M droid, I'd probably get a few more, heh.

Hopefully this means that a new wave of DF sets are incoming shortly, so they're wanting to clear the older stuff off the site.

You forgot possibly one of the most wanted droid updates…

  Spoiler:

I would NEVER forget my beloved 2-1B, lol. The only reason I didn't include him, is because I want, nay, demand, that Hasbro give us a proper OG96 update of that character in TVC. I lost a lot of confidence in Disney to give us decent non-astromech figures in their Droid Factory packs, after that mostly subpar OWK set came out. The NED-B was barely passable, but the 1-JAC was straight up junk. 2-1B deserves more than a mediocre figure.

Oh I absolutely agree. I just don’t have faith in Hasbro at this point to complete the 96 anytime soon. Even with Ev9 & 8D8 being in the 96 as well as both being part of new media they were ignored. At least until a cost cutting subpar 8D8.
At this point I would be fine with the POTF 2-1B getting full articulation.
