New Droid Depot 3.75" figures

On the topic of yellowing plastic. Does anyone know of a fix for it? I have that EU white Vader from the comic pack. It has been on display, out of direct sunlight and is still yellowing something fierce on the torso.
Older figures with yellowing plastic that weren't exposed to direct sunlight or UV light, is usually because of a low quality white plastic that was used. I have never attempted that supposed fix using hydrogen peroxide (which seems kind of bogus to me, since one of the steps is then leaving it in the sun, heh), so I cannot speak to a tried and true fix, other than painting it white.

Do they fit in any matchbox case or are these slightly bigger?
i got the last of the kylo ren case on clearance a few years ago and the droids fit nicely in that. Unfortunately, the case only holds about 12, same with the old EP1 R2-D2 figure case/playset

Wanted to share a new item that I found that works incredibly well for these figures. Something I wish Hasbro would
make are collectors cases for storing figures. Since they don’t, finding alternatives has always been something I keep
an eye out for. For storing the massive collection of these droids I have (thanks dad) I had been using an organizer that used to be sold at Walmart. Each section (16 total) in the picture below is a separate case…
They do, or someone really does because it is difficult to find something low cost for them. I had to buy shot glass display cases for my Astromech Droids and at $40-60 each can run a bit costly if you've got over 50 Droids. lol

Also, do you know if the cases are made from acid free plastic?
I checked with the seller/distributor (Fullcase) before I purchased them & the case is Polypropylene which is stable/inert & as close to PH neutral as is possible. It is generally considered good for archival use. I wouldn’t recommend letting them sit in direct sunlight of course, but should be more than good for storage indoors away from any light source that may have significant UV light output (bright halogen, fluorescent). But that can be said for pretty much any case.

The initial 2 I got I kept together in a larger storage bin & after nearly a year of having them have seen no affects on what was stored in them.
Only downside I'm seeing to those black cases is the slots seem a tad too narrow. It looks like they're squeezing the feet inward, causing the legs to bend at an unnatural angle.
I normally have them in the case with the middle leg out front matching their rolling stance. When they are placed in there like that the legs are only slightly pushed inward but taking them out of the case they do not stay that way. When they are stood up on any surface they are as straight as any of the legs on the droids I display.

Looking at the pictures I do see a few that middle legs were not completely out front which does make the outer feet push in more & against the sides of the torso. Probably happened when I removed the clear cover for the pictures.

I had all of the same concerns when I got these. I definitely wouldn’t have recommended them let alone store my customs in them if I wasn’t sure about them. Also these aren’t the only ones I tried, they were without a doubt the
best I have found so far especially at the price.

I shared this on the Astromechs Anonymous Facebook group a while back.
There’s a local guy that’s a robotics teacher in the Orlando area. When he took over the class last year, he noticed some trays full of droid bits. Apparently they were given to the school by Disney to use in class. He only had white/yellow and white/purple R6 heads, white/red legs, white/yellow bodies and red center legs.
He would occasionally sell the parts as a complete droid to raise money for the robotics team. I inquired about the plastic trays they came in. I’d only saw them other time, back in 2012 when the parts debuted at Tatooine Traders. A Cast Member brought some extra parts from the back when the bins were running low. Typically, these trays were destroyed/recycled, but thanks to him, I was able to acquire a set or trays to store my droids while not on display. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. :)

Thanks for sharing those images, Chuck! What a cool find. Never would have guessed that Disney's factories would go to such lengths to securely pack the individual parts, especially when they were all destined to be dumped into a jumbled pile in those bins. You might be one of the only people on the planet who has salvaged that little slice of Disney BAD history, so guard them well!

That's interesting, and makes sense they'd be packed and shipped that way. It's still a mystery who actually manufactured the Disney BAD's. Does Disney have it's own toy design/manufacturing arm for Disney Parks, or do they contract that out to existing toy companies? I could see it being something similar to store brands, where the same food is made in the same plant but they slap different label on it.

New Ahsoka trailer dropped today, and we already have a few contenders (one of them major) for an Ahsoka themed Droid Factory 4-pack! I know we're still waiting on sets inspired by BoBF and Mando's third season, but I have a feeling Disney is going to really push merch from this show.

First off, we have some New Republic astromechs. The white/yellow/black 'mech is not what it seems. At first glance, thought it was an R2 unit, but I think we're actually seeing an R7 unit here.

The big surprise here though is the very first live action astromech that's clearly based on the vintage Kenner R2-D2. Never thought we'd see something like this. It's kinda blowing my mind, to be honest. All I know is that I need one, and I need it now! 😅

Those are truly beautiful designs. I’d spend $99 to get four new R-series astromechs.

Did I miss something? Why are people implying that a potential Droid Factory set for Ahsoka would be expensive or overpriced? All the 4-packs and individual carded figures have been reasonably priced, and for the most part, easy to obtain.

I could be wrong, but I think the last few posts were referring to a hypothetical Hasbro release of the retro Kenner looking R2 droid, not cost of a Disney 4 pack.

actually, a throw back to the kenner release in Italy in 1977/78 for this new droid would be cool....C-1P8 1689342617927.png

For me it was playing off the fact that the droid based off the vintage action figure would be expensive, as well as the fact that Dok Ondor is $45.00. Which is high for a Black Series figure. So if this new droid was a Disney exclusive it would likely be pricey. It was just all in fun I guess.

I got this one back in the day. Had almost forgotten about the name change.
