Go Go Gadget Toys!

1.jpg

A local collectible shop got this set in today. Luckily I was on Facebook when I got the alert. I called them and they held it for me until after work. Thankfully they did because this was the only set they got. I canceled my pre-order with BBTS as the ETAs keep getting pushed back. I also gave in and bought some Funko Pops. Words can't describe how awesome this set is. After all these years, we finally get a super-articulated Inspector Gadget figure. The head, hands and feet all detach and you can attach different gadgets (neck, arms, leg extensions) and attach the head, hands and feet onto the added gadgets.

Here are the new figures with the Tiger Toys figures from 1993

Pros:
- All figures are highly detailed and a great representation of their cartoon counterparts.
- All figures come with many accessories. So many gadgets!
- Gadget is super-articulated, similar to the new Black Series figures.
- We finally get an official Chief Quimby figure.

Cons:
- Only Gadget is articulated. Penny, Brain and Chief Quimby do not have any articulation at all, just parts that can be removed and swapped out.
- Some gadgets can be a bit finicky, most notably the copter. The poles that go into the hat do not clip in and do not fit in snug/securely. It's more of a "place them on the holes and don't touch after" type of thing. Once you get them in the right position, its fine. Its just if you accidently move anything they are out of place.
- So many gadgets! (not really a con, just me worrying about more things to lose lol).

Here is one slight nitpick I had. The flap on the back of the trenchcoat should have 2 points, and not be straight. Not a con, just a personal nitpick lol.

All in all, a fantastic set. I look forward to taking more photos with all the different gadgets!

Well, for starters, in the cartoon, he had two big metal gauntlets. The action figure had one big metal gauntlet and one brown leather glove. But Tiger got the go-ahead to design his look, and what they came up with is now considered official. It even made an appearance in an IG video game. And he looks like a cross between Vincent Price and Colonel Sanders, with a half-melted face.
Ah, so DIC didn’t have a design for Claw’s face. It was Tiger that came up with it.

That's a shame about the other characters being unarticulated slugs! The Gadget looks amazing, though! Great piece!

Yeah that was a bit of a bummer. I’m surprised they don’t have at least articulation in the neck. Oh well. The Gadget figure is fantastic, I can’t put him down haha. They gave him gadget legs, and they are actually springs and not a metal rod like the neck and arms are so its nice to see that accurate attention to detail.

One other pro I forgot to mention. Despite the many parts that can be swapped out, they do a very good job with hiding those areas. With some figures you can tell what parts can be removed. These figures I couldn’t really tell and had to refer to the manual.

I have not put this figure down since I got it. I am beyond happy with it, it's that awesome of a figure.

In the manual it shows Gadget holding the umbrella with his regular arm but I like displaying it out of the hat (cartoon accurate also). I wish it came with a pair of relaxed hands, with the closed hands it looks like he's ready to punch someone haha. The one gadget I'm surprised that wasn't included was the hammer (called mallet in the show). Maybe I can whip up something quick.

Edit:
I went through my Gadget accessories and found a mallet and umbrella from the Galoob Inspector Gadget figure from 1983. That figure was 12 inches so the accessories are a bit on the big side with this figure. They fit perfectly in the hands!

Here's a few pics I took today of Penny, Brain and Chief Quimby. As I mentioned before, no articulation which sucks but they are still very good representations.

Penny
143656128_463593401690716_7993114737887743990_n.jpg 142761884_167100368232005_2423404074501155781_n.jpg

Penny comes with 2 faces, I opted to display her with the happy expression. The open computer book is *a little* finicky to place on the peg in the hand.

Brain

Unfortunately, Brain has issues with standing on his own. Also, the ears pop off and you have to place them through holes in the hat and attach them back on his head. I stopped trying after about 5 minutes, its a bit difficult and just annoying. I noticed the hat and mustache disguise was also included in the Penny and Brain figure set from the Tiger Toys 1993 line, however the hat was all white in that set. Whether or not this was intentional, it was a nice touch.

Chief Quimby

I was so glad they included the pipe for Quimby and the trash can was an added bonus. The figure separates at the waist and plugs into the trash can. I thought it was funny that they included a second hair piece so you can plug the trash lid on it.

So, overall a very good set. Obviously Gadget is the highlight of all the figures. The others have no articulation but they are still pretty solid figures. I wanted them all as I'm a big fan of the series. I got the deluxe version, however they sell these figures individually (but Penny & Brain are still in one set) so if you just want Gadget, get him!

Does anyone know where I could get a chair for my Dr. Claw figure? The figure is about 5 inches. I searched ebay and kept getting wrestling chairs. I tried searching "action figure chair" and "throne chair" but no luck. Even shapeways wasn't much help. I also tried searching "dungeon chair" and... well, that came up with adult things. 🤦‍♂️

Try "Dollhouse swivel chair" for starters. "Dollhouse library chair," "dollhouse high-backed chair," and "dollhouse Victorian chair" might yield some good results, too. The 1/12 scale might work, I think. Hope this helps!

The dollhouse chair I ordered from ebay came in today. I did an oopsie and broke off the right arm/leg trying to fit the figure on the chair. Luckily it was a clean break so I just superglued it back on. I cut off the other arm and filed down the areas where the arms were. I ended up giving the chair a new paintjob, and with a very thin paintbrush I put MAD on the back. Eventually I will put the MAD logo on the back of the chair also.

Here's what the chair looked like before:

Fantastic job on the BK figures and Dr Claw s chair!!!! I'm starting to collect the Tiger figures. I do have the Blitzway Gadget and I love it!!! I think the Tiger Penny and Brain almost work in scale with him. I love Gadget so much that I made the intro with my family. It's not 100% accurate but we tried our best. Here is a link in case you want to take a look as a Gadget fan

Thanks appreciate it! I've been working from home over a year now, so I've been finding other projects to work on.

Loved the intro, very creative! I saw this on the IG reddit, nice to see it posted here too!
