Black Krrsantan (Marvel Star Wars Comic Appearance)

I'm gonna be really surprised if they actually do end up taking this one all the way through production. Every Star Wars instagram/Twitter page I've seen that normally don't even state opinions on the figures have pretty much posted very negative things about this one. Even some of the retailers. I think if preorder numbers are low enough they'll get the hint.

If he gets released and goes down to a sale/clearance price I'll pick him. I want comic and video game figures but not ones I could just make myself.

While it may not be what everyone is after they do have an out by calling it the "comic appearance", could you imagine how badly the fail would be if it had been for BOBF release?

And in a sense it makes sense to utilize reuse for a "comic" version as an alternate release as some fans might actually want that version even though he doesn't even look like that in the Comic. I do think this is the lowest/worse Hasbro has stooped though.

However, I gotta have hope that an actual all new BOBF version will see the light of day and this is just a placeholder until then. I mean it could be that this figure was already planned long before they ever knew he was in BOBF, and if he hadn't appeared in the show people might not have such an issue with it.
1000% this was in preproduction well before BOBF aired. They may have pushed it a little with his live screen appearance but there’s no way they’d have a packaged/painted prototype without at least a year lead time. But I think you’re right. There wouldn’t be anywhere near this much griping if we hadn’t just seen him on the show.

Hasbro got a ton of grief for mistaking Kir Kanos with Carnor Jax figure in this very sub-line, yet still went ahead with the release unchanged, so I'd be very surprised if this abomination got pulled.

I haven't read Crimson Empire so I'm not sure exactly what all the differences were between the characters actual design and deco. I do know that enough people immediately and loudly said "we want Revan to have knees" to make them pull him from TVC. So maybe it's just a crapshoot.

Kir Kanos had the primarily red design, and Carnor Jax was primarily in black. And Hasbro has made both of them before in 3.75" so it's not like they haven't had prior exposure to these characters.

Except the figure hardly looks anything like his comic-book appearance either.

in the meantime I guess I'll try to get this one (preferably from Amazon)
Amazon won't carry this, it's fan-channel only - links are in the OP.:)

Yeah but that was a different team altogether who probably hasn't a clue to half of what was made in those golden years.

So, I'm about to binge watch all 7 ep of BOBF this long weekend - purposely waited till I could watch it all in one sitting.
I take it this character or someone similar is involved.

Looking more closely at other online source material pics, this seems like a figure I would be interested in, aside from the fact that these pics of the actual production look like a cheap knock-off.
If it were done properly, this would likely be a sure buy.

At this point, my collecting habit depends on:

- my finances
- my shelf space
- how amazing the figure looks

Not necessarily in that order.
This is one more easy pass.

I'd prefer the holiday albino over this right now, and even in that case, it would be only if I could get it cheap.

Personally I think the cheap looking armor is the biggest offender. The reuse of Chewie is expected. The head sculpt is not horrible but not great. But the armor looks atrocious. I’m sure some metallic paint and a wash would go a long way but it shouldn’t have to
They could have at least tooled the armor to give the illusion of broader shoulders. It would have helped a bit. So would painting it. If you are going to polish a petrified turd at least shine it up.

I've pinpointed the big issue to the shoulder pads just being grossly oversized. I could accept it being a chewie repaint and the rest of harness if those pads weren't so massive and made the shoulders look even thinner.

All that "we won't buy it nonsense" and still it looks they have sold through half of the allotment

People will literally buy anything Hasbro puts out. FOMO, completionists, the select few who actually like the figure. But hey, to each their own. If someone wants to drop $30 on black Chewie with a He-Man harness, who am I to argue?

Maybe they were looking ahead and they wanted to make sure the harness will fit the larger Black Krrsantan that will come out later. At least that's what I'm hoping as this is a total pass for me.

I saw a post somewhere on Instagram (and then later retweeted) of someone saying they wanted to pass on it, but didn't because they've bought every Black Series figure put out. But they weren't happy about it.

I learned long time ago not to judge people's collecting habits, but buying junk you don't want sends Hasbro the wrong message. It tells them "wow people must really want these carbonized repaints because they'll pay so much extra for them" or "well enough people want this Krrsantan because they're pre-ordering it!". It makes legitimate complaints seem like a vocal minority because they have sales to back them up.

Again, buy what you want, definitely! But don't buy things you don't want.

Yeah, I have trouble understanding the mindset of buying things we don’t want. It’s a relief when something I don’t want gets announced, because when I do want something, I usually have to scramble to get in my pre-order.

I wouldn’t have room to display or money to eat if I bought everything, so that’s also part of it for me.

I'm surprised that it's even available still! I guess some collectors do have restraint. lol

Seriously though, this is available on several sites...to get an accurate assessment of the ordering you'd have to look at all the fansite numbers to see just how well/poorly this figure is selling.

I still don't want it, and won't buy it.

It was Mike Kaess. I'm not sure if Hasbro shill or Hasbro ass kisser fits better.

In all my years of collecting, through different properties and sizes, I’ve never been a completionist. Even if funds were unlimited I can’t see myself feeling compelled to buy figures I’m not interested in. It would just add more stress and aggravation to a hobby that’s supposed to be fun. But the most important point is the only way to really tell Hasbro how we feel is to vote with our dollars. And the more people buy stuff they don’t want, the more we send the wrong message.

Personally I prefer to wait for that white whale, I mean Wookiee that's supposedly a Holiday figure!
That I'll buy because I can head canon it into Madclaw!

At this rate they might as well make Attichitcuk, Lowbacca, Jakarro, Gryyzak and make that mold really pay for itself.

I just saw a tweet from him saying something to the effect of "the last two days my Twitter has been telling which toys to like and not like".

If you're gonna say something like "I'm gonna buy this but I don't want it" on a place like twitter, expect equally dumb responses.

Mike Kaess is a reviewer. Might that be his reason to buy something he doesn’t care for?

Ehh. It COULD be, but if that were the case, would he have made the initial poat about it without mentioningnhes doing it for the review? I follow a couple reviewers and general toy pages that do reviews, and if they don't review a figure it's typically not something that gets noticed.

I am now four chapters into the Book of Boba Fett for the first time today (will finish the last three hours tonight) and now completely understand the outrage.

This passing off of the figure as anything close to the actual character is ludicrous and laughably and sadly, very very bad.

I would LOVE to have a proper rendition of this figure from the BoBF, but this is sooo bad.

As everyone has pointed out for the last three pages - I just - it's now that I am watching the show, am all like
'Seriously? SERIOUSLY?
WTF?'.

He doesn't even look anything like the comic book, which predated BoBF.

What I find odd is that Chewie doesn't seem like the fighting/brawler type based on his appearances in the movies, in the OT he always cowered in the face of danger. The trash compactor stand out as one. Solo he only fought Han so when I saw BK in BOBF it felt tome like he made Chewie out to be a bit of a wuss.

Just because they are all Wookiees does not mean that they are all the same.

They are kind of like dogs IMO. Some are pit bulls and some are beagles. Still though, when a beagle bites you it hurts.**

**Yeah, I'm a beagle owner.

Me too. He’s the only dog that’s ever bit me. They can be brutal for lil dogs

I wasn't saying they're all alike, I was commenting abut that image of him fighting BK, if that is Chewie there. And thinking he doesn't seem like the fighter type while BK is.
