Notes My experience with "Master Replicas" was completely the opposite from my experience with "Icons." I received this lightsaber within just TWO days after ordering it. Much better than the TWO MONTH wait I experienced for my Skywalker lightsaber from "Icons." The packaging itself is beautifully presented, with a classy black box and a red embossed "Revenge of the Sith" logo on it. From the moment you see that, you know you're about to uncover something special when you open the box. Ten times more exciting than Christmas!
Also different from my experience with the "Icons" Skywalker lightsaber, I was struck with how heavy this Obi-Wan Kenobi saber was, weighing in around ten pounds I believe. I was also struck with how skinny this piece is, clearly more sleek than the "A New Hope" version Obi-Wan used. Still, the design is faithful to the one Old Ben used in "A New Hope" but with shiny pristine copper accents and brass with high-gloss black on the "grenade" handle portion of the prop. The balance on this piece is exquisite, making me feel as if a true Jedi Master alone could wield such a fantastic weapon. Gorgeous piece.

Notes The blue blade is luminous and shimmering, and the shade of blue is very true to the way it looks in the film. Extremely comfortable to wield, the handle of this saber feels the best in my hand of all my Force FX lightsabers. I compared the circumference measurement of my "A New Hope" Icons prop and this lightsaber hilt. The measurements are nearly identical. I understand the FX hilts are made slightly larger than the actual filming prop to accomodate the electronics of the saber, but this is about as close to the actual film prop not just in size, but also in detailing I have seen in any Force FX lightsaber. The sounds are good, particularly the "snap hiss" power up and the slick power down sounds. The idle hum is a little higher pitched than I would like, and the "swing" pitch changes are not as good as the Vader FX saber. This saber also does not seem to be quite as sensitive as the Vader saber in accurately detecting swing movement with sound pitch changes. Still, this is a fantastic saber, and the Force FX sabers are certainly the closest thing I have ever experienced and may ever experience to wielding a real lightsaber.

Notes This is one amazing saber. The blood red blade is perfect - dead on in true red color as seen in "Empire." I also noticed the subtle differnce in the power down sound from the Anakin and Luke sabers. It is softer at the beginning, then finishes in a crescendo - just as it sounded after Vader cut off Luke's hand and powered down his saber before asking Luke to join the Dark Side. Having said that, the power up sound, while a true sound effect from other power up sounds used in the films, is not true to the very distinct one always used for Vader, and nearly always for Count Dooku in the prequils. It is a kind of "scream" and very eerie. Anyone who watches "Empire" and listens to the power up sound of Vader's saber after Luke ignites his, will know what I'm talking about. Interestingly enough, it sounds like that "correct" power up sound is used as one of the "clash" sound effects, so I can forgive this oversight. Also, the idle hum is far and away the best of all the FX sabers. It is very low pitched, so low you can actually hear the "beats" of the idle hum, just like in the film. Very menacing and and angry-sounding. Fantastic. The swing sound is also accurate to the authentic Vader saber sounds, and this particualr saber detects swing motion better than any other FX saber I have tried. Fantastic piece. The handle is also nearly dead on with the movie prop. The chrome plated finish and black details make this menacing weapon a saber to behold...

Notes Another wonderful piece, as are all the Force FX lightsabers. Much has been written about the "fat neck" of this saber, as will also be the case when the Obi-Wan "Sith" FX saber comes out. It is true this is the most striking inaccuracy to the movie prop, but it is impossible to avoid due to the need, once again, to make the hilt larger than the actual filming prop to accomodate the blade and electronics inside the hilt. Other than this, the detailing is fantastic - right down to the red and green arrows showing which direction to slide the switch to power up and down. The power up sound, like the Vader power up sound, is an accurate sound effect, but not the actual sound consistently used in "Return of the Jedi" whenever Luke would power up his lightsaber. This was honestly my greatest disappointment with this particular saber, only because I think Luke's power up sound is the coolest of all the power up sounds used in the films. The best example of this sound effect is when Luke meets Vader on Endor and Vader startles Luke with a sudden power up of Luke's green saber. It is a loud scream-like sound, but quite different from Vader's. While the FX lightsabers are quite excellent, I would change two things about them if I were to re-release them. First, I would make sure all power up and power down sounds were dead on true to what is consistently used for that particular saber in the particular film the saber is for. Next, I would include on the stand the name of the owner of the saber instead of it only saying, "Star Wars." This Luke saber is the loudest of all the FX lightsabers I have tried. The six double A batteries required to operate it instead of the three in the others no doubt has something to do with that...
